Parenting a child with behavioral issues isn’t easy. Feelings of frustration and helplessness are very common. If you are experiencing problem behavior from your child help is coming to Carrollwood beginning in May.

BCOTB (Behavioral Consulting of Tampa Bay) has been a fixture in Tampa Bay since 2003 as a provider of ABA Therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis). This May, BCOTB will be opening another clinic in Carrollwood -located in the Grand Plaza Office Park. BCOTB addresses behavioral issues with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD, ADHD, feeding aversions, toilet training issues, compliance issues, sensory processing disorders and so much more. BCOTB believes that early intervention (seeing children as young as 18 months old) is key to developing both vital language and communicative skills.

An innovator in the behavior health field, BCOTB has developed and trade marked its ‘Child Advancement Track™’ (CAT) to better serve its clients while transitioning them from therapy to school settings. BCOTB’s ‘Child Advancement Track™’ is designed to address the individual needs of each child throughout their development. Each program targets the development of critical skills necessary to support the child’s successful transition into everyday environments, whether its play based instruction, an academic setting, or a combination of both. BCOTB offers a three-tiered model (Toddler Achievement Program (TAP), School Readiness Program (SRP) and School Success Program (SSP) that works with appropriate developmental milestones for specific age groups, as well as peer interaction with suitably aged group play.

This year BCOTB proudly announced the launch of two additional therapy services: Pediatric Speech/Language Pathology (SLP) & Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT). Providing these therapies in collaboration with ABA has proved to be effective and beneficial.

The Pediatric Speech/Language Pathology (SLP) program at BCOTB helps children develop the skills needed for successful communication, interaction, and feeding. These skills can affect all aspects of daily life, from communicating basic needs to developing social skills and friendships to progress in school.

The American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) certified speech/language pathologists at BCOTB have master’s degrees and extensive training in childhood speech, language, and oral motor (feeding) problems.

BCOTB’s Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) is designed to evaluate, treat and manage a variety of neuromuscular, skeletal or cognitive limitations in children 2-10 years of age. BCOTB occupational therapists specialize in the evaluation and treatment of children experiencing difficulties with performance of daily activities within the areas of feeding/eating, self-care, play, learning and development due to a variety of congenital or acquired disorders.

Earlier this year BCOTB proudly announced the launch of their Down’s Syndrome Therapy Program. According to the National Down Syndrome Society children with Down Syndrome display maladaptive behaviors, such as elopement, task refusal, inattentiveness, and obsessive/compulsive routines. These are all behaviors which are targeted for reduction in the Autism Spectrum Disorder population resulting in significant positive outcomes.
