The Carrollwood Area Business Association Installs its New Board of Directors

On July 29, 2020, the Carrollwood Area Business Association (CABA) held its first “virtual” Awards and Installation (A & I) networking event.  Celebrating the installation of its 35th Board of Directors on Zoom characterized CABA’s 2020 pivot to keep members engaged and passing referrals throughout the pandemic.  Since 1986, CABA has provided a platform for businesses to help each other and help the community through weekly networking events. 

  CABA is accustomed to adapting and leading through challenge, as it was the closing of businesses due to road construction that presented a problem in the mid-1980’s. CABA President Jennifer Jenkins explained, “CABA was developed during a time when the viability of many local businesses was threatened due to the widening of North Dale Mabry. Several local business owners came together to advocate and collaboratively address the Florida Department of Transportation who agreed to complete the road widening at night—after businesses had closed for the day:  CABA’s first victory for local business, business owners, and the Greater Carrollwood community.”

CABA’s slogan in 1986 was, “We helped ourselves by helping others.”  When asked about slogans and branding as we enter the third decade of the 21st Century, Jennifer Jenkins said that her volunteer work with CABA has been through the Community Outreach Committee since 2017, and her focus as CABA President will include making CABA more accessible to the Greater Carrollwood Community. “We are excited to announce that we have contracted with a new company that will help lead CABA with an Administrative Team with whom we will be working to create new, innovative ways to connect you to each other and to your ideal clients and referral partners. Soon, we will be announcing a business-to-community (B2C) campaign,” said Jenkins.

The July 29th A & I networking concluded with the introduction of the eleven (11) Board Liaisons who will be working with their Committees in 2020 – 2021 to help businesses connect with CABA, and to help CABA connect with the community.

CABA thanks those volunteers who were elected as officers by the membership and who have stepped up to serve CABA and the Greater Carrollwood Community: President Jennifer Jenkins, Rooted Holistic Health Coaching; President-Elect Danelle D Castillo, Tampa Bay Realty & Investment Group LLC; Immediate Past President Nicholas Romer, Spectrum Business; Secretary Misty Caber, Edward Jones – Financial Advisor; and Treasurer Christopher Legendre, Bashor and Legendre, LLP CPAs.

New Board Directors include Jeff Ryder, Carrollwood Copy Center and Printing; Roland Jean Charles, PMI JCM Realty Group, Quint Bodine, Heartland Payment Systems; and returning directors include Kelsey Leggett, Jaffe Tilchin Wealth Management; Joyce Woloson, Transportation by Joyce; and Sharon Conklin Perez, Beasley Media Group-Tampa.

In its 35th year, CABA never forgets its past or its founders who have been enshrined in CABA’s Hall of Fame, housed in the “CABA Room” at Carrollwood’s Brunchie’s Restaurant: one of CABA’s many member businesses that attribute their ongoing success to a group of concerned citizens who came together in 1985.
