Sky-High Living Costs: Two California Cities Among the World’s Priciest: A recent study reveals that two California cities have secured spots in the top ten most expensive places to live globally.
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2023 Worldwide Cost of Living survey recently published its findings, placing Los Angeles at the sixth position and San Francisco at the tenth. New York was the only other North American city to make the list.
The survey analyzes over 400 prices across 200-plus products and services in 173 cities worldwide. The collected data is then compiled into an index and ranked accordingly.
The global scenario has witnessed increasing prices and inflation, with the survey indicating an average year-on-year rise of 7.4% for commonly used goods and services.
Singapore clinched the title of the most expensive city, while Damascus in Syria emerged as the least expensive among the 173 cities surveyed.
