A 60-year-old woman from Florida found herself in custody over the weekend after an incident during a DUI investigation, which involved her biting a Deputy. Thankfully, the Deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Deborah Bennett Odom now faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and driving under the influence (DUI).
The incident unfolded when the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a reckless driver and observed a red Range Rover SUV swerving on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 82. The driver, identified as 60-year-old Odom, exhibited signs of intoxication, with a noticeable smell of alcohol, as reported by the deputies on the scene.
As the investigation progressed, Odom resisted the Deputies’ attempts to detain her and even tried to unbuckle her seat belt while inside the patrol vehicle.
Subsequently, she was transported to the Monroe County Jail, where she exhibited further unruly behavior by biting and kicking a Corrections Deputy.
Odom is now in custody, facing a $10,000 bond for her actions.
