LAKELAND, Fla. — In Polk County, overnight, a 21-year-old man from Miami led a trooper on a high-speed chase, as detailed in an arrest report.
The incident began when a trooper noticed David Bush, 21, speeding on Interstate 4 near State Road 33. According to the arrest report, Bush was driving a grey Dodge Durango aggressively and tailgating other vehicles.
Upon running a check on the SUV’s license plate, the trooper discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen, leading to the initial attempt to pull Bush over.
When the trooper activated the sirens, Bush responded by turning off the SUV’s headlights and driving without them, effectively “blacking out,” as mentioned in the arrest report.
During the pursuit, the speed reached a consistent 105 mph at one point. The chase came to a halt when the trooper used a PIT maneuver to stop Bush’s vehicle near Rockridge Road and U.S. 98. Subsequently, both Bush and his passenger exited the SUV and attempted to flee on foot.
Around 3:04 a.m., an attendant at a gas station contacted the sheriff’s office regarding a suspicious individual who had entered the establishment.
It was confirmed that this individual was indeed David Bush, leading to his apprehension. He was subsequently taken to the Polk County Jail, where he now faces a range of felony and misdemeanor charges.
