Tragic Riverview Shooting: Adeem Berry Shares Perspective on Devastating Incident

RIVERVIEW, Fla. –  Adeem Berry, the boyfriend of the Riverview mother who tragically lost her life when her 14-year-old son shot her, has shared his perspective on the heartbreaking incident.

Adeem Berry is facing accusations of shooting his mother, Tiffany Harris, and her boyfriend, Cortevious Crews. Tragically, Tiffany Harris succumbed to her injuries, while Cortevious Crews miraculously survived despite being shot multiple times.

This devastating incident unfolded on September 16th in the Summerfield subdivision on Lynmoor Drive. Hillsborough County deputies swiftly responded to the community and found Berry running in the street while armed with a gun.

Body camera footage has been released, revealing a tense 16-minute negotiation between deputies and Berry. During this ordeal, Berry reportedly pointed the gun at his own head on multiple occasions.

Berry was eventually taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder with a weapon, first-degree premeditated attempted murder with a firearm discharge, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Cortevious Crews spoke about Tiffany Harris, who was not only a mother of three but was also eagerly anticipating becoming a grandmother to her daughter’s first child. “Tiffany was a very loving and caring person,” he fondly remembered. “She had a lot of friends who always looked up to her. She adored her children and spoiled them with everything. She was a genuinely good person.”

Crews disclosed that he had been dating Harris for just about a month before the tragedy struck. He recalled that he and Berry were watching television together when the teenager abruptly left the room without explanation.

“He started staring off into space, looking at me, but he wasn’t actually looking at me. I asked, ‘Are you okay?’ but he didn’t respond,” Crews recounted. He further shared that he felt frightened when the teen returned to the room brandishing a gun.

“He came back and started shooting at me. His mom came out screaming, which gave me a chance to escape from the house. That act probably saved my life,” Crews said as he vividly remembered the terrifying events. Crews collapsed in the driveway of the home.

He recalled waking up days later, only to learn from the news that a 14-year-old boy had tragically killed his mother. It was a painful revelation for Crews, especially as he discovered that Tiffany Harris had lost her life in the process.

Since the shooting, Crews has struggled to perform everyday tasks independently, as he bears gunshot wounds on his hands, shoulder, jaw, and leg. He reverently referred to Tiffany Harris as his hero and expressed deep sorrow, believing that she had tried to protect him when tragedy struck
