A 16-year-old girl from central Florida tragically lost her life after a terrifying lightning strike incident that occurred last Tuesday. The victim, identified as Baylee Holbrook, had been on a hunting trip with her father, Matthew Holbrook when the tragedy unfolded.
The heart-wrenching incident happened when a powerful lightning bolt struck a nearby tree, directing its electric force towards Baylee and her father, Matthew. The sudden surge of electricity caused Matthew to lose consciousness. Upon regaining awareness, he was met with a devastating sight—his daughter, Baylee, had stopped breathing.
Displaying incredible presence of mind and bravery, Matthew Holbrook immediately began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and called 911 for urgent assistance. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office documented this heroic sequence of events in a detailed statement shared on their official Facebook page. First responders quickly arrived at the scene, facilitating Baylee’s swift transfer to a nearby hospital, where a team of medical professionals worked tirelessly to stabilize her. After initial treatment, she was moved to a specialized trauma center for further medical care.
A family spokesperson announced that Baylee Holbrook passed away at 09:32 am.
